The Window of Notice

By Mark Quinn

I notice the damage in the world,
I notice the boy and girl dying in the street,
I notice the forest leaves beneath my feet,
I look out my window at the seasons that pass,
I notice the dew upon the grass,
I notice the celebrities talking shite,
I notice the old people suffering their plight
and the politicians out of sight.

I look out the window at the rain,
I notice my own inner shame,
the working-class trying to play the game
and the people poisoning his or her name,
the young boy looking for instant fame
and the dying animals shot for game.

I notice the troubles in the Middle East
and the Manchester families that cannot feast,
the anger and frustration on her face
and the state of the streets it’s such a disgrace,
I notice the hair growth on my face
and I notice the state of the human race,
the world is moving at an unbelievable pace.

I look out my window and notice the human race,
the smile spreading across her face
and people getting on with humanity with grace,
I notice many people are beautiful and nice,
trying to work the world out like the birds and the fish,
but most of all I wish…
