Thinking.
What do you think about?
Are there times when you think far too much?
As a writer I have thoughts hopping through my mind all the time; good and bad. I tend to overthink things that are not at all important, but they keep on coming. My mind is like a fast-flowing river with golden brown leaves as my thoughts; one minute they’re floating passed and the next, they’re gone.
You can’t let thoughts rule your mind, you have to take control. A thought is just that, a thought, until you take action. I like to take action on happy thoughts.
Poetry or simply writing down in a book on what is going on in your head is a great way of easing the pressure and letting your thoughts out.
Don’t be too hard on yourself for thinking too much, it is a great pleasure of mine to sit looking out of the window with a cup of coffee and thinking.
Many of my stories have come from deep-thinking and recording those thoughts in notebooks. Believe me, I have plenty of notebooks around my house and one in my rucksack to take down notes for when I’m on the move!
So get thinking and get writing. It’s a beautiful thing.
poem by me to you
Thoughts in your head are like leaves on a river,
flowing throughout your mind;
making you think good and bad,
even thoughts that can be sad.
– don’t let them.
You can’t do anything about it,
just let them be.
Let your thoughts roam free
they will eat you up if you let them,
they will slice through your mind,
they will cut you up,
they could destroy you.
– don’t let them.
Remember thoughts are just that.
Thoughts.
What goes on in your head
is up to you,
you can’t let them control you;
they can set you back,
you need to control them and get back on track.
Don’t worry about it too much,
everyone has them,
they affect us all
so don’t keep them in.
Go for a walk,
let someone know,
open your mouth and talk.
You might think they’re silly,
you might think they’re bad,
but get them out or they might make you sad.
