Whitby

Whitby in England

Whitby is a seaside town in Yorkshire, northern England, split by the River Esk. On the East Cliff, overlooking the North Sea, the ruined Gothic Whitby Abbey was Bram Stoker’s inspiration for “Dracula”. Nearby is the Church of St. Mary, reached by 199 steps.

Whitby on the East Coast

I love travelling up and down the UK and if you ever get the chance to visit England take a trip to Whitby it is delightful. We have been many times, it is about three hours drive from Manchester where I live. I get on the M62 motorway and across the moors, Captain Cook and Dracula visited Whitby, not at the same time! But you never know!
