The Pennybank Murders

Part: 2

By Mark Quinn

Yellow and green must never be seen.

The Pennybank Murders
Part 2

Down at Pennybank Theater Superintendent Cyril Choppybottom and Ginger Charlie Hopkins enter the attached living premises of theater director, and sadly the murder victim, Sally Comelightly.
“My God this is hideous!” screams out the superintendent.
Ginger Charlie looks at the super in shock.
“But the victim is in the bathroom, you’ve not seen her yet?”
Superintendent Cyril Choppybottom steps though the door and looks around.
“I was talking about the decor in here, who puts yellow and green in the same room!?”
They both walk towards the bathroom.
“Is Miss Comelightly a religious bitch?” the super asks, looking down towards the coffee table.
“No, I don’t think so,” replies Charlie.
The superintendent spots a pair of running shoes near the bathroom door.
“I take it she likes to keep fit?”
Charlie looks toward the shoes.
“Sally? No way. She’s got about as much go in her as a fat human running for a bus.”
“Hmmm, interesting,” says the superintendent, heading into the bathroom.
The hinges on the door squeak, Cyril looks down at the blood-stained corpse lying on the now red bathmat.
Cyril looks closely at the front paws of Sally’s left leg.
“Defence wounds, she certainly had a go. But strange though, no fur in the claws. I wonder why she has a tin of orange paint in the bathroom,” says the superintendent pointing towards a tin of blood orange paint behind the door.
“Maybe she was decorating the bathroom?” Charlie suggests.
“Decorating the bathroom? In blood orange? Has the bitch got no taste!?” the superintendent says as he walks back into the living room area.
“Get the body bag division down here and clear up, I need to pay someone a visit.”
